Ghisolfi “Roma has suffered obvious wrongs, now enough”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Seven obvious wrongs, the club kept silent but now it is tired. We have to protect fans, team and investments”: thus Roma’s ds, Florent Ghisolfi, in an interview with the “Corriere dello Sport”, announces a change of strategy by the Friedkins, from the point of view of presence and communication. “We no longer accept these kinds of mistakes and we ask to be respected by the refereeing class and institutions, especially in a historical period when any oversights can be ‘cured’ by technology,” adds Ghisolfi, according to whom “if in Budapest,” the Europa League final, “had been played yesterday, the reaction of the ownership would have been quite different precisely because over time it has matured the awareness that silence, measure and elegance do not always pay off. Without that mistake, Roma would probably have one more European title, and it would have been the first Europa League in its history, it would have played in the European Super Cup final and, above all, it would have returned to the Champions League, with economic revenues undoubtedly higher than those guaranteed by the Europa League ’23-24.” With the new coach, Claudio Ranieri “we are perfectly aligned on everything. As someone said in Trigoria, he has brought a breath of fresh air. When will the Friedkins return to Rome? Soon, very soon. They have chosen to fight.” For Ghisolfi, it was not clear “how much passion the Friedkins have for Roma, their involvement is incredible. I hear them daily, they want to know everything and in detail. They have invested resources, time and themselves to stay for a long time and get the most out of it. The new stadium is not a hypothesis, but a concrete and stupendous project. Now they are asking to receive fair treatment and the attention that is due to everyone, no one excluded.” And going back to last Sunday’s incident at the “Maradona” against Napoli, Ghisolfi says he is “very convinced” that Romelu Lukaku should have been sent off. “Yellow the first foul on Celik and direct red, not second yellow, on Svilar. It was red. I repeat, Roma has always respected referees and institutions, but it has not been repaid in the same coin.”
