HONG KONG (CHINA) (ITALPRESS) – With a new look and aggressive tennis, Lorenzo Musetti makes his 2025 debut with a victory. Listed as the second seed in the $766,290 “Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open,” Atp 250 on hard court, after taking advantage of a first-round bye, the Italian advanced to the quarters by overcoming Canadian Gabriel Diallo, world number 87, 6-4 6-3 in his first outing of the season. “I felt very good in training, I had positive vibes yesterday in doubles (lost paired with Lorenzo Sonego, ed.). Even today on the court the feelings were very good. It was not easy as the first match of the season, I am happy with the way I played.” And on short hair he confesses, “I had been thinking about the change of look for a long time. Last year I wore my hair very long, it took me so long to dry it. With my fiancĂ©e we decided on this change. New year, new look. And hopefully the coming season will be better than the last one.” In the quarters Musetti will face for the fifth time Spaniard Jaume Munar (No. 62 Atp), who defeated 6-3 7-5 Portuguese Nuno Borges, the fifth seeded favorite, and who won all three direct confrontations on clay. Musetti beat him only at Wimbledon, on grass, in the second round in 2023.
