Green Deal, Bombardieri “Lower energy cost and safeguard jobs”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Uil is asking the government that the Italian gas fields, located in front of the Ravenna and upper Adriatic coasts, be committed to increasing gas extraction to be allocated, at lowered prices, to our country’s energy-intensive companies, provided that they respect precise social conditions.” This is what Uil Secretary General PierPaolo Bombardieri said at the “From green deal to social deal” conference organized by his union today in Rome.

“These days we are dealing with many disputes for companies that have opened crisis procedures and are in danger of closing because of the very high cost of energy. Our proposal,” Bombardieri reiterated, “can be activated immediately and can be a solution to avoid serious employment and social repercussions. Obviously, we reiterate, those companies will not have to lay off or leave our country. Within this framework,” Bombardieri pointed out, “is also our request for investment in innovation and technology, to ensure social transition, which can be done by reusing the Sure program, financed by EU bonds, which, during the pandemic, has already given good results. That of the green deal is also a goal of ours, but we demand immediate answers that will lower the cost of energy and safeguard jobs. We need a gradual path,” Bombardieri concluded, “and a concrete approach to the issue of technological neutrality, which, for example, in the sector, automotive, can be translated into considering hybrid as a useful step to manage the transition.
