STRASBURGO (FRANCIA) (ITALPRESS) – On Greenland, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, during a press point in the European Parliament, said he was satisfied with the bilateral he had with his German counterpart and the strategy on the Arctic presented by the government, reasserting how the issue is “a problem that is resolved at NATO level and European Union. The fate of Greenland is in the hands of the Greenland people and Denmark.” As regards international relations between the United States and Europe, Tajani said that a division between the two actors would end up encouraging competitors on the industrial, commercial and geostrategic level. The main objective remains the dialogue between the two continents, with Italy to play a role of mediation. “We want to deal high and we have demonstrated throughout the previous negotiation on the duties that can be done by obtaining good results and clearly telling ourselves what are the objectives of one and the other to find an agreement,” he explained.
“What Commissioner Sancho did very well. No surrender, but an attempt to avoid any escalation because the interests of the West are common. The interests of America and Europe coincide, no one can do without the other,” added Tajani.
“We will continue to help Ukraine and closely follow developments in the situation in Venezuela. I have reiterated the firm condemnation of Italy for the repression in Iran against the protesters, we are against the death penalty. We also talked about the future of the Middle East, we want to be at the forefront of the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza,” he said about Ukraine.
“I am in favour of the trade agreement between Europe and Latin America, because it brings a huge advantage to our country. Exports will increase by around 14 billion. For us, having open markets means being able to grow export, which represents more than 30% of our gross domestic product.” “Thanks to the serious work of the government and our diplomats, we have achieved guarantees for our farmers: Almost 35 billion, with interventions on agriculture to many billions, almost 90 billion, and these are positive results, plus some other guarantees. This led us to vote in favour, nothing is ever perfect,” he concluded on Mercosur.
