ROME (ITALPRESS) – The AISI – Association of Independent Healthcare Enterprises takes firm action on the sensitive issue of the new national fee schedule for outpatient specialty care, which was unilaterally approved and deemed unsustainable for accredited and pure private healthcare facilities. The petition launched by the UAP – Union of Outpatient Clinics, Outpatient Clinics, Institutions and Private Hospitals, which denounces the very serious damage caused by this measure, is rapidly approaching 50,000 signatures, demonstrating strong support from citizens and operators concerned about the future of Italian health care. “The downward revision of these rates is a senseless and profoundly unfair decision. It will bring to its knees a sector that provides quality services to millions of Italians every day,” said Karin Saccomanno, president of AISI.UAP director general and treasurer Giovanni Onesti also expressed his alarm: “Many health care realities, both accredited and pure private, risk economic collapse. We call on the government to stop and correct this drift immediately, before it is too late. “The new fee schedule, which was supposed to be a fair update after 26 years of immobility, has instead drastically reduced reimbursements by up to 60 percent for many services,” reads a note. “This scenario, according to AISI, jeopardizes the survival of healthcare facilities, putting at risk the quality of care and access for patients. At first, the Lazio Regional Administrative Court had ordered a suspension of the new rates, granting the requests of the professional associations. However, this suspension was later lifted, leaving the disputed fee schedule in place. “Next January 28, 2025, the Lazio Regional Administrative Court will rule collegially on the issue, deciding whether to confirm or permanently suspend the current fee schedule. This ruling will represent a turning point for the accredited and pure private health care sector. “This date will be decisive in understanding whether we can continue to offer services to citizens without compromising the sustainability of our facilities,” explained Onesti.AISI, together with the UAP and numerous other organizations, continues to call for an immediate rethink and constructive dialogue with all parties involved. “It is not acceptable to penalize such an important sector for our health care system. We defend pure, accredited private health care to the hilt, because it is a resource for the country, not a cost,” concluded Saccomanno.AISI calls on all citizens and practitioners to continue to support the petition so that this battle is won and the right to health care is protected for all.
