ROME (ITALPRESS) – For the first time since its establishment in 2004, the Blastness platform, which supports hotels in direct online bookings, has seen its volumes grow in Italy so much that it has reached average shares of overnight stays equal to Booking.com.
The figures speak for themselves: bookings made through Blastness between January and August 2024 for the period May-September 2024, amounted to more than 590 thousand nights sold for an economic equivalent of more than 202 million, or 33% of 620 million total. A share equal to that of Booking.com and almost three times that of Expedia (12%). Even higher is the incidence of direct sales in the 5-star hotel segment where 34% of stays come from the Blastness platform and only 26% from Booking.com.
In less than two decades, Blastness has achieved an unexpected milestone by far exceeding the business goals initially set, thus bringing to fruition the company’s mission aimed at maximizing margins in the hotel industry. In fact, the cost of disintermediation systems and services is significantly lower than the brokerage costs of large OTAs (Online Travel Agency).
Blastness, moreover, helps the hospitality world maximize its revenues through revenue management optimization.
The integrated Blastness Suite platform, in fact, allows hoteliers to gain “insight” into the market and competitors’ pricing policies, offering real-time analysis of the price index and market saturation levels, identifying the optimal rates for available rooms and setting the most effective selling price, thus optimizing the hotel’s overall profitability.
“When I founded Blastness 20 years ago,” says Andrea Delfini, the company’s founder and CEO, “with the goal of developing direct online hotel room sales, I never imagined that we would reach the volumes of a giant like Booking.com. We currently manage average annual transitions of more than 1.5 billion euros on our systems, with a client portfolio of more than 1,200 accommodations of all sizes, spread throughout the country. We are the leading online sales channel overall, for example in the Amalfi Coast we are 20 percentage points above Booking.com and 25 above Expedia. Even in the Toscana mare cluster, the direct sales channel holds the lead with a 46 percent market share.”
