House Slovenia in Cortina hosts on Tuesday 17 February Prince Albert II of Monaco

CORTINA (ITALPRESS) – During the Winter Olympic Games, Casa Slovenia in Cortina d’Ampezzo is not only a meeting point for sports and economic activities, but also a space for diplomacy and reflection on the challenges and opportunities of our time. Tomorrow the House of Slovenia, under the chairman of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia, Franjo Bobinac, will host a round table on the sustainability of winter sports. Prince Albert II of Monaco, member of the IOC and President of the IOC Commission for Sustainability, the former President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, member of the IOC and President of the IOC Commission for future hosts; Johan Eliasch, President of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) and member of the CIO; and Giuliano Advantage, representative of the Veneto Region. The round table will be moderated by Alja Brglez, President of the Commission for Sport Sustainability at the Olympic Committee in Slovenia.

The central question of the debate will be: Can winter sports survive in the coming decades without a profound structural transformation oriented towards sustainability? At the invitation of the Slovenia Olympic Committee, Casa Slovenia today hosted the President of the Republic of Slovenia, NataÜa Pirc Musar, who participated in the event Values that combine sport and business. Casa Slovenia has also received the visit of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, further strengthening its reputation as a space for sports and economic diplomacy and international dialogue. On Thursday, Casa Slovenia hosted a business event aimed at strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector, which brought together Slovenian and Italian partners and offered networking opportunities, B2B cooperation and relations consolidation. The event, attended by 18 Slovenian companies, was organized by the Slovenian Tourist Board in Italy (STO) in collaboration with the Olympic Committee of Slovenia (OKS).

In the evening the Slovenian Federation of Skiing (SZS), together with partners and representatives of international sports institutions, has instead presented the successes of Slovenian skiing and a clear vision for future years. Particular attention was paid to the upcoming World Championships in Salto with Skiing in Planica in 2028 and to the candidacy of Planica to host the World Ski Championships in 2031. Great attendance at Casa Slovenia also on weekends, for the live view of the deeds of Slovenian skimmers: first Saturday, when fans enthusiastically celebrated the gold medal of Domen Prevc, and yesterday with the bronze medal of Nika Prevc.
