Humanitas Catania, delivered the scholarship in memory of Barbara Maino

CATANIA (ITALPRESS) – Barbara Maino, in her life path interrupted by a serious illness, left a deep mark in the people she met. Discovered the disease, which for a part of the care brought it also in Humanitas Istituto Clinico Catanese, continued to live with intensity, tightening relationships that remain strong even today, almost two years after its disappearance. To her, for the second consecutive year, the association Il Filo della Vita, born within the Breast Centre of Humanitas Istituto Clinico Catanese, has dedicated and financed a scholarship worth a thousand euros, destined to enrolled and enrolled at the Bachelor in Nursing at Humanitas University. The delivery took place on 23 January in the spaces of Humanitas Istituto Clinico Catanese, during a ceremony attended and charged with emotion, to which also the parents of Barbara took part.

Carla Riela, a second-year student of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, selected on the basis of the criteria of merit and income provided by the call, beginning with the commitment shown in his course of studies and the results achieved. The ceremony was attended by Daniela Aiello, psychologist of Humanitas Istituto Clinico Catanese and treasurer of the association Il Filo della Vita; Enza Marchica, president of the association Il Filo della Vita; Sarah Scollo, co-ordinator of the Degree course in Nursing, as well as the parents of Barbara Maino, who supported her daughter at every stage of her path.

“This ceremony represents a moment of great emotional intensity – said Elena Petrolito, Deputy Director of Health at the Hospital of Contrada Cubba –. Barbara’s strength, which has been our patient for a short period of care, but which has long been followed in other institutions, remains an example of courage and confidence in care and research. This recognition gives shape to its desire to support studies of future health professionals. We thank Barbara’s parents for the woman who was: a precious gift, gone away too soon. A thanks also to the association Il Filo della Vita, and in particular Enza Marchica that has always supported Barbara with love, sharing difficult moments of his path of care, to Enza we must find ourselves together today, in the sign of memory”.

“Barbara misses us so much – said Enza Marchica, president of Il Filo della Vita -. We remember her with affection and a pinch of melancholy, because she was a precious, positive woman and with an authentic look towards each other. He participated with conviction in our initiatives and never escaped when there was a need to get involved. The creative writing course “Write to heal”, realized together with the author Tea Ranno, still remains a significant photograph of what Barbara represented. Renewing also this year the scholarship means carrying out the values that have always led it”.
Beatrice Mazzoleni, director of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Humanitas University, who recalled that “the nursing profession requires technical skills and human skills, both important for the ultimate goal, which is the good of the patient. Humanitas University is honored to take part in this recognition that contributes to forming health professionals with a strong value thickness.”.
