Hurricane Milton reaches Florida, brings destruction and casualties

ROME (ITALPRESS) – More than 2 million people are left without power in Florida where Hurricane Milton made landfall on Siesta Key last Italian night. In this area, as reported by CNN, where the storm touched down, sweeping the coast with violent winds and heavy rain and flooding, some counties report that more than 70 percent of customers are without power, including those in Sarasota, Manatee and Pinellas. Hardee County in Central Florida is almost completely in the dark with 97 percent of customers experiencing outages. Outages are expected to continue to increase as Tropical Storm Milton’s winds extend about 255 miles from its center, sweeping Central Florida violently. Meanwhile, the hurricane, classified as a Category 3 “dangerous storm” first weakened to Category 2 as it reached the coast and then dropped to Category 1 according to an update from the National Hurricane Center. According to some U.S. media, there are also casualties but the toll is not yet clear.
