SALERNO (ITALPRESS) – A vast interforced operation in the historic centre of Salerno has led to the discovery of a clandestine butcher shop and serious irregularities in various ethnic commercial exercises. The intervention, coordinated by the Carabinieri of the NAS and the local Company, saw the involvement of the Labour Inspectorate, the Municipal Police and the Asl.
The focus of the investigation is a property used illegally to illegal slaughter, managed by an extra-Community citizen. During the inspection, prepared by the Prosecutor of the Republic, the military found hygienic-sanitary conditions defined “pessime”, with widespread dirt and presence of infestants.
Overall, 6 quintals of health-free meat and a ton of other foods (ethics, rice and legumes) were seized in poor state of conservation.
The activity was extended to two minimarkets and a local Kebab area. In the latter, in addition to hygiene deficiencies, the presence of black work and violations of safety standards has been ascertained. The authorities have arranged the closure “ad horas” and the suspension of business activities for all the premises involved.
The final budget of the operation records: fines for a total of €20,671,41; administrative sanctions for €21,900,00; seizure of additional 300 kg of goods between vegetables, pastries and unmarked meat products.
Owners were reported for violations of safety regulations in workplaces. Further investigations are underway by the Annonaria Police on rental contracts and local authorizations.
