CATANIA (ITALPRESS) – State Police have carried out the largest operation against audiovisual piracy conducted in Italy and Europe. More than 270 Postal Police officers carried out 89 searches in 15 Italian regions and, with the cooperation of foreign police forces, 14 searches in the United Kingdom, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, Romania and Croatia against 102 people. In the same context, Croatian police executed 11 pre-trial detention orders against as many suspects.
With the operation, coordinated by the Catania District Prosecutor’s Office, the largest transnational criminal organization dedicated to audiovisual piracy was dismantled, which made use of a complex IT infrastructure illegally serving more than 22 million end users.
