ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In February 2026 Istat estimates that the seasonal index of industrial production increases by 0.1% compared to January. On average December-February the level of production decreases by 0.4% compared to the previous three months. The seasonally adjusted index increases on a monthly basis for instrumental goods (+1.1%) and intermediate goods (+0.2%); while bending for consumer goods (-0.4%) and energy (-4.8%).
In February 2026, the general index increased by 0.5% annually (the calendar working days were 20, as in February 2025). More markedly increase the instrumental goods (+4.4%) and with less intensity the intermediate goods (+0.1%); negative changes recorded instead, the consumer goods and energy (-2.1% for both groups). The sectors of economic activity that record the higher tendencies are the manufacture of means of transport (+10.0%), the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products (+7.8%) and the manufacture of machinery and equipment n.e.c.a. (+5.2%). Larger flexions are found in the manufacture of chemical products (-6.8%), in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-6.4%) and in other manufacturing industries, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (-5.8%).

Among the main groupings of industries, there is a positive monthly dynamic for instrumental goods and intermediate goods, while consumption and energy are falling. On an annual basis, after the fall of January, the general index, net of the calendar effects, returns to grow”.
