ROME (ITALPRESS) – According to preliminary ISTAT estimates, in November the national consumer price index for the entire community (NIC), before tobacco products, recorded a zero change on a monthly basis and increased by 1.4 percent year-on-year, from +0.9 percent in the previous month. The rise in the inflation rate is primarily affected by the acceleration in prices of regulated energy goods (from +3.9 percent to +7.5 percent) and the easing of the decline in prices of unregulated energy goods (from -10.2 percent to -6.6 percent). Inflation support also comes from the trend in food prices, both processed (from +1.7% to +2.4%) and unprocessed (from +3.4% to +4.1%), durable goods (from -1.4% to -0.8%), transportation-related services (from +3,0% to +3.5%), nondurable goods (from +0.9% to +1.3%) and, to a lesser extent, housing-related services (from +2.3% to +2.5%) and communication-related services (from +1.0% to +1.2%). Core inflation, net of energy and fresh food, accelerated in November (from +1.8% to +1.9%), as did inflation net of energy goods only (from +1.9% to +2.2%). The trend dynamic of goods prices reverses, moving to positive values (from -0.5% to +0.4%), and that of services accelerates slightly (from +2.7% to +2.8%). The inflation differential between the services and goods sectors thus narrows to +2.4 percentage points (from +3.2 in October). Prices of food, household and personal care goods accelerate on a trend basis (from +2.0 percent to +2.6 percent), as do those of high-frequency goods (from +1.0 percent to +1.8 percent). The cyclically stable overall index reflects the opposite dynamics of several components: on the one hand, the growth of regulated energy goods prices (+2.7%), unprocessed (+1.5%) and processed food (+0.8%) and housing-related services (+0.3%); on the other hand, the decrease in prices of recreational, cultural and personal care services (-1.2%). Acquired inflation for 2024 is +1.0% for the overall index and +2.0% for the core component. According to preliminary estimates, the harmonized consumer price index (HICP) shows a zero change on a monthly basis and a +1.6 percent change on an annual basis (accelerating from +1.0 percent in October).(ITALPRESS).-Photo: Istat press office-
