Inps, as of January 2025 there are 17.99 million pensions in force. Here are all the figures

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Released the Statistical Observatory on pensions paid by Inps (excluding public employee management), which reports data on pensions in force as of Jan. 1, 2025, and new pensions paid in 2024.

As of Jan. 1, 2025, the Institute records a total of 17,986,149 pensions in force, of which 76.1 percent (13,687,335 pensions) are social security in nature and 23.9 percent (4,298,814 pensions) are welfare. The total annual amount is 253.9 billion, of which 226.6 billion is from social security schemes and 27.3 billion is from welfare schemes.

46.4 percent of the pensions and 61.7 percent of the amounts come from private employees’ schemes, including the Employees’ Pension Fund, which covers 43.8 percent of the total pensions paid out and 57.2 percent of the amounts in payment. Self-employed workers’ managements disburse 28.1 percent of pensions, with 24.6 percent of the total amount in payment. while welfare managements cover 23.9 percent of benefits. With reference to the category, welfare-type benefits consist of 69.5 percent old-age pensions (57.3 percent paid to men), 4.8 percent welfare disability pensions (58.0 percent men), and 25.7 percent survivor pensions (12.6 percent men).

Welfare-type benefits consisted of 79.4 percent of civil disabilities in the form of pensions and/or allowances (42 percent men) and the remaining 20.6 percent of pensions and social allowances (38.1 percent men).

LA SUDDIVISIONE A LIVELLO TERRITORIALE

At the territorial level, Northern Italy holds the largest share of pensions in force with 47.8 percent, followed by Central (19.3 percent), Southern Italy and Islands (30.9 percent) and a residual share (2 percent) is disbursed to residents abroad. The amounts disbursed are distributed 55.9 percent in Northern Italy, 19.7 percent in Central, 24.4 percent in Southern Italy and Islands, and 0.8 percent to residents abroad. 53.5 percent of pensions have an amount less than 750.00 euros, of these 43.1 percent (4.1 million pensions) receive benefits related to low income.

There were 1,434,086 new pensions settled in 2024, of which slightly more than half (50.7%) were pension in nature. Annualized amounts allocated for the 2024 new liquidated amounted to 15.1 billion, about 6.0% of the total annual amount in payment as of January 1, 2025. Of the social security pensions paid in 2024, 61.4% are old-age pensions (60.0% paid to men), 9.4% are social security disability pensions (64.2% men), and 29.2% are survivor pensions (18.9% men). Welfare-type benefits consisted of 91.9% civil disability benefits (42.2% paid to men) and 8.1% social security benefits (42.8% men).
