RIAD (SAUDI ARABIA) (ITALPRESS) – Inter Milan is the first finalist in the Italian Super Cup, thanks to a 2-0 win over Atalanta that earned Simone Inzaghi’s men the chance to defend for the third time a title they have won continuously since 2021. Dumfries’ brace to sign the Inter victory, with Atalanta running out of gas despite a goal disallowed and several chances on goal. Inter had the first chance of the match, on 10′, on the spot kick taken by Calhanoglu and turned on goal by Lautaro, who, however, found a responsive response from Carnesecchi. Dea answered, five minutes later, on Bastoni’s inaccurate aerial throw that gave a neat ball to Scalvini, who was not good with his head to give the right force to the ball that was then blocked by Sommer. Good pace and chances that didn’t struggle to arrive, with still Inter and Lautaro protagonists in the open duel with Carnesecchi, forced to double intervention in the dive – first on the Argentine and then on Dimarco – to avoid the disadvantage at the end of a good vertical action of Inzaghi’s eleven. The first half therefore ended 0-0, with some problems at Inter regarding the condition of Thuram, taken over at halftime by Taremi due to a slight fatigue in his left adductor.
Substantial balance of the first 45 minutes that was broken, however, at 4′ of the second half: another corner well taken by Inter and exploited to the fullest by Dumfries, good in the melee of the Atalanta area to turn in a backhanded shot finding the 1-0 goal. Serata di grazia for the Dutchman, who in 62′ will even find the double, thanks to Dimarco’s left-handed descent and his own service for the Interista number 2 who, from the first, unloads a powerful right-footer on which Carnesecchi can do nothing after an initial touch from the crossbar. Double lead that seemed to drain Atalanta, with no apparent benefit given by the substitutions of Lookman and De Ketelaere among others. Inter dominant and even close to 3-0, again with Lautaro unpolished on one-on-one with Carnesecchi in sealing the third goal for his own. A gift to Atalanta, which would get back into the game at 72′, with Ederson’s goal first validated and then annulled for an offside position by De Ketelaere. Last assaults by the Bergamaschi ended in a deadlock, allowing Inter to detach the pass for the final on January 6, in which it will face the winner of the other semifinal, the one between Juventus and Milan, scheduled tomorrow at 20:00 Italian time.
