International drug trafficking between Italy and the Netherlands, 5 arrests

BOLOGNA (ITALPRESS) – Bologna State Police executed five pre-trial detention orders in prison issued by the G. I. P. of the Bologna Court against as many individuals who were part of an international criminal organization trafficking drugs between Italy and the Netherlands.

The complex investigative activity was carried out by the Bologna Mobile Squad, coordinated by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate of Bologna and in collaboration with the collateral Spanish Investigative Bureau, supported by the S.C.O. Contact Unit at the Udyco in Madrid, and with the Mobile Squads of Rimini, Treviso and Verona, locations where the suspects were located.

The five individuals, four of Albanian nationality and one of Tunisian nationality, ended up in jail for the crime of association for the purpose of illicit drug trafficking aggravated by the availability of weapons.

In the course of the investigation, as many as 9 imports of cocaine carried out by the association, totaling 41.5 kilograms of cocaine and another 9 imports of marijuana totaling 76.5 kilograms, as well as the introduction into the national territory of a consignment of 280 kilograms of hashish, were reconstructed for the period April-November 2020. The total economic value of the imported narcotics, once placed on the market, can be quantified at more than 5 million euros.
