Inzaghi “Derby tricky, needs an aggressive Inter”

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Derbies are never a match like any other, especially when two teams like Inter and Milan, whose ambitions are exactly the same, challenge each other. Inzaghi, who has already experienced several derbies both as a player and as a coach, knows this well. The Nerazzurri arrive at tomorrow’s challenge, at 6 p.m. at the San Siro, fresh from the fine European success with Monaco with the direct passage to the round of 16 of the Champions League, but now they need to immediately get into the match atmosphere: “We all know what a derby represents, a heartfelt match full of pitfalls – said Inzaghi -. They have a team of quality and value, we will need an aggressive and determined Inter. The first two derbies this year did not go as we wanted, in Riyadh we had to be better at reacting. We have to be better in the decisive moments of the match.” Then on Calhanoglu: “He and Acerbi yesterday had their first training session with the group after a long time. They are better and are candidates to be able to give us a hand, but it is likely that Calha will not start from the beginning.” Clear ideas, classic grit and a desire to always take steps forward in terms of quality, the usual Inzaghi: “I want to see the continuity we have had since August. I can only praise the boys, we did championship and Champions League very well. However, we know that from now the most complicated part begins.” The calendar also in February will be busy: “We have played sixteen games in two months, practically a round in two months, and we have been good at getting in the first eight in Champions but we now have the recuperation with Fiorentina and the Coppa Italia on a particular date: it will prevent us from working at our best as we thought, but it does not depend on us. As a recovery they put this date that we did not expect, the Coppa Italia date could have been different, but we know that we will have to run in February as well. Arriving in the first eight of Champions we thought would allow us to work differently, instead we will do it like we did in January.” The Scudetto race is tight, but Inter’s path passes through games like this, also because Napoli will also be engaged in a delicate match in Rome against Ranieri’s Giallorossi: “Scudetto race? Right now Napoli, Inter and Atalanta have taken a bit of a lead and are the three favorites. But I’m not forgetting who could rejoin. I am focused on my team.” The Nerazzurri coach returned to talk more about the Riyadh match with the Rossoneri: “Conceicao’s cigar over the top? I don’t care about what happened, I care about having seen together with the team what we did well on the pitch and what we did wrong. A game is made up of many moments and many episodes, we have to be good at reacting differently. Precedents don’t go on the pitch, before we came from a positive streak, now negative and we will have to do better.” Inzaghi also spoke about refereeing (in relation to the Riyadh challenge): “As we make mistakes and the players make mistakes, the referees can also make mistakes. I said it only today: yesterday I review the game with the team, on 2-0 with our ball there was the lost ball of Asllani, who was then blamed for making us take 2-1 and there is instead a clear foul of Morata, a kick.” Finally, on the market: “Yesterday I met with President Marotta, Ausilio and Baccin who are always with us anyway. We will definitely do something incoming.”- Photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
