Iran, Pezeshkian “Protents to nuclear inspections, but not to excessive demands”

TEHERAN (IRAN) (ITALPRESS) – Iran is ready to accept “any verification” on its nuclear program, but it does not intend to yield to “excessive demands”. Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian declared this, speaking to Tehran on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the Islamic revolution. Speaking in front of the crowd gathered in Azadi Square, in a climate marked by US military threats and the recent resumption of talks between Tehran and Washington, Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran does not aim to equip itself with atomic weapons. “We are not trying to acquire nuclear weapons. We have stated this repeatedly and are ready for any verification,” said the President, underlining the willingness to submit his programme to international controls.

However, the Iranian President has taken a firm line against external pressure, particularly the United States: “Our country, Iran, will not yield to their excessive demands.” Pezeshkian also stressed that Tehran will continue the dialogue “with all its strength” with the neighboring countries, with the aim of promoting “peace and tranquility in the region”. The statements come after the resumption last Friday of the indirect talks on Iranian nuclear between Tehran and Washington.
