TEHERAN (IRAN) (ITALPRESS) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated that Iran does not intend to equip itself with nuclear weapons or destabilize the region, while underlining the right to defend its territorial unity with dignity. In a statement released today, filmed by TV at Kazeera, Pezeshkian said: “We do not try to possess nuclear weapons or destabilize the region. We defend our territorial integrity with dignity and are committed to respecting international legal frameworks. We hope that the counterpart will understand it.” The Iranian president then criticized “the counterpart”, accusing him of having isolated internationally because of the murders of military commanders and political figures and the killing of children in the region. Pezeshkian’s statements come at a delicate time, while the ceasefire mediated by the United States between Iran, Israel and Washington is in force, and while indirect contacts continue for a possible de-escalation.

The commander of the Iranian army, Amir Hatami, reiterated the full readiness of the armed forces to respond to any hostile move, underlining that “the hands are on the trigger” to reject any threat or aggression from the enemy. The TV’s back at Jazeera. In a widespread statement today, Hatami said that the Iranian armed forces are “in maximum alert and ready to react strongly against any hostile movement.” The commander’s words come as the ceasefire mediated by the United States between Iran, Israel and Washington, but in a climate that remains extremely tense in the region.
