Iran, the Security Council prepares the announcement of the next Supreme Guide. Israeli raids in Lebanon on Hezbollah goals

TEHERAN (IRAN) (ITALPRESS) – The Iranian National Security Council has announced that it has prepared detailed plans for the official announcement of the next supreme guide, in the context of the accelerated transition followed by the death of the leader Ali Khamenei following the US-Israeli air attacks. The announcement, resumed by sources close to the Arab regime and media like Al Hadath, indicates that the Council – led by Secretary Ali Larijani – is coordinating security, logistics and communication measures to manage the announcement at a time of ongoing war and high internal instability. The formal process of election is for the Council of Leadership Experts who gathers 88 religious highs and must approve the successor with a majority of two-thirds.

Meanwhile, the temporary leadership board provided by the Constitution is already operational, consisting of President Masoud Pezeshkian, the head of judicial power Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Ejei and the representative of the Council of the Guardians of the Constitution, Aytollah Alireza Arafi. Internal sources and international media indicate that the most likely candidates include figures close to the hard line, such as Mojtaba Khamenei (son of the deceased leader), Ali Larijani himself or other conservative clergy, although the process remains opaque and influenced by the war dynamics. Tehran reiterated that any foreign interference in the succession process – including US comments on an engagement in the election – will be strongly rejected.

The Israeli defence forces confirm that they hit the southern outskirts of Beirut on the night. In particular, the Idf attacked yesterday evening the headquarters and ten skyscrapers in Beirut which, according to the army, housed military infrastructure of Hezbollah. As part of the attacks, the Executive Board headquarters was attacked. The military air force destroyed six launchers of Iranian ballistic missiles, a few minutes before their launch to Israel. In addition, three advanced Iranian defense systems were destroyed.
