ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Bought by two drones the Italian military base of Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan. It happened yesterday evening. The explosion caused damage to infrastructure but no Italian was injured. The flames were quickly contained thanks to the intervention of the fire teams of the base.
“Ferma condemns the attack that suffered the Italian base of Erbil. I just spoke to the Italian Ambassador in Iraq. Luckily, our military is all right and safe in the bunker. To them I express solidarity and gratitude for the daily service to the Homeland.” He wrote on social media the vicepremier and foreign minister, Antonio Tajani.
“We were inside the Italian base, already in pre-awakening condition and around 8.30, local time, an alarm of aerial threats was activated. Following the procedures we went safely to the bunkers and just before the one, always local time, there was an aerial threat that hit the Italian base”. Commander Stefano Pizzotti, intervened at Sky Tg24 tells what happened at the Italian military base of Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan. “The infrastructure has been affected – continues – and the investigation of damage is still ongoing. The bombers are at work, but what I would like to emphasize is that all the staff is well. Our men are safe, they were protected in the bunker and they’re all fine. Morality is high, we reassure families. We are prepared and trained to deal with these situations. The alarm has now ceased,” concludes Pizzotti.
