TEL AVIV (ISRAELE) (ITALPRESS) – Israeli Defence Minister, Israel Katz, and Justice Minister, Yariv Levin, are considering the possibility of creating a military tribunal to process members of the Nukhba elite force of Hamas involved in the massacre of 7 October 2023. It is what emerged after a meeting of the two ministers together with the military leadership. The project aims to establish a specific legal framework to pursue qualified events such as war crimes and crimes against humanity. Katz has charged the army to assess the legal, operational and international implications of such a device.
“Israel determined to punish those responsible for the massacre and to make it clear that any attack on Israeli civilians will have consequences,” said the minister. This initiative arrives as the Otzma Yehudit Party of National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, pushes a bill establishing the compulsory death penalty for terrorists on October 7. The text, already adopted at first reading by Parliament, is currently under discussion at Knesset.
