Istat, in 2024 less accentuated the fall in labour productivity

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In 2024 the increase of the added value of the sectors that produce goods and services of market (+0.4%), measured in volume, is in deceleration regarding 2023 (+0.8%). The growth rate of the capital (+0.5%) shows a slight decrease compared to 2023, although both ICT and non-ICT capital inputs grow strongly. The work input, measured in working hours, increases by 2.3%, slowing down by 2023 (3.4%). It makes Istat known. All productivity indicators are down. Labour productivity decreases by 1.9% (-2.7% in 2023) due to increased working hours of added value. This reduction is mainly determined by the marked flexions in labour productivity in certain sectors of services.

Capital productivity shows a slight slowdown (-0.1%), while it is significantly reduced (-1.2% by -1.6% in 2023) the total productivity of factors (PTF) which reflects technical progress, changes in knowledge and changes in the efficiency of production processes. The wide reduction in labour productivity is mainly due to the significant decline in PTF.
