ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Retail sales in October recorded growth in both volume and value (respectively +0.5% and +0.4%). The increase concerns both food (+0.5% in value and +0.7% in volume), and non-food goods (+0.4% in value and volume). In the quarter of August – October 2025, in conjunctural terms, retail sales do not record changes in value and decrease in volume (-0.3%).
Food sales see a slight increase in value (+0.2%) and a decrease in volume (-0.6%), while non-food goods are stationary in value and in volume (-0.2%). In October 2025, retail sales recorded an increase of 1.3% in value, while volume does not change. Analogue trend is recorded in value both for the sales of food (+2.3%) and for those of non-food (+0.5%): in both sectors the volumes remain unchanged.
With regard to non-food goods, heterogeneous tendencies are recorded between the various groups of products. The biggest increase is the perfumery products, caring for the person (+4.2%), while the biggest decline is observed for household appliances, radio, TV and recorders (-2.2%). Compared to October 2024, the value of retail sales is increasing for large distribution (+2.7%), sales outside stores (+1.1%) and electronic commerce (+4.6%), while a decline for small-scale businesses (-0.5%).
