Istat, stationary GDP in the third quarter of 2025

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In the third trimester Istat estimates that the gross domestic product, expressed in concatenate values with reference year 2020, corrected for the calendar and seasonal effects, has remained stable compared to the previous quarter and has grown by 0.4% in tendential terms.

The third quarter of 2025 had four working days more than the previous quarter and the same number of working days compared to the third quarter of 2024. Conjunctural variation is the synthesis of an increase in value added in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector, a decrease in industry and a stationary in that of services. On the question side, there is a negative contribution of the national component (to the gross of stocks) and a positive contribution of the net foreign component. The 2025 change is 0.5%.

In September 2025, on a monthly basis, according to the preliminary estimates Istat, the growth of the employed and the unemployed is associated with the decline of the inactive. The increase in employment (+0.3%, equal to +67 thousand units) involves women, permanent employees and all age groups with the exception of 35-49 years which are decreasing; employees are also undergoing, while men and self-employed are substantially stable. The employment rate rises to 62.7% (+0.2 points). The increase of people seeking work (+2.0%, equal to +31 thousand units) is observed among men, the 15-34 years and among those who are at least 50 years old, while between 35-49 years and women the number of unemployed decreases. The unemployment rate rises at 6.1% (+0.1 points), the youth rate at 20.6% (+0.9 points). The decrease inactives between 15 and 64 years (-0.8%, equal to -99 thousand units) affects men, women and all age groups except 35-49 years, among which the number of inactives grows.
