ROMA (ITALPRESS) – ITA Airways announces the publication of the first Sustainability Report drafted for 2024, confirming its commitment to responsible and transparent growth in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Although it is not subject to regulatory obligation for the 2024 financial year, ITA Airways has voluntarily chosen to anticipate the application of the requirements laid down by Community legislation to bear witness to the Company’s concrete commitment to maximum transparency and sustainable transition.
The Sustainability Report represents public disclosure of corporate performance in environmental, social and governance areas (ESG), providing stakeholders with clear and consistent qualitative and quantitative information. The document was drafted by adopting the European ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards), as provided by the EU Directive 2022/2464 CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), introduced with the aim of standardizing sustainability reporting ensuring transparency and comparability of ESG information among European companies.
Joerg Eberhart, CEO and General Manager of the Company, presents the 2024 Rendicontation as a “transparent navigation tool, which allows us to guide us along an increasingly sustainable path”; Sandro Pappalardo, President of ITA Airways, highlights the role of the Company as “an active part of the sustainable transition of the sector, placing innovation, respect for the environment, the valorisation of people and good governance at the centre of its strategy”.
Within the document are represented the integration of Sustainability in the business model of ITA Airways, strategic pillar of the Company’s Industrial Plan, and the main results achieved at 31 December 2024. Among these, the ambitious renewal plan of the fleet: average age of 6.6 years (among the youngest in Europe); 65% of new generation aircraft, which allows the reduction of CO2 emissions by 20-25% compared to the previous; 74% of Chapter 14 certified aircraft (more stringent noise level, in terms of noise reduction, according to ICAO standards). This renewal plan allows the Company to achieve significant objectives.
Thanks to the effectiveness of the efficiency strategies implemented, compared to 2022 a reduction of 22.8% CO2/RPK emissions (CO2grams for Revenue Passenger Kilometer). The Sustainability Report, complete with all the results and commitments made by the Company for 2024, is available online in the section dedicated to the official website of ITA Airways.
