Italy-Bulgaria, Ambassador Zarra meets with Vice-Premier Donchev

SOFIA (BULGARIA) (ITALPRESS) – The Ambassador of Italy in Sofia, Giuseppina Zarra, met today with the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Innovation and Growth of the Republic of Bulgaria, Tomislav Donchev. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth, Martin Danovski, the Head of the Cabinet, Stefan Iliev, and the President of Confindustria, Roberto Santorelli. This was announced by the Embassy of Italy in Sofia, noting that Ambassador Zarra “congratulated Minister Donchev on the establishment of the new ordinary Cabinet and his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister, highlighting the excellent partnership between the two countries in several areas, such as economy, education and defense, and offered the opportunity for a useful exchange of views on opportunities for strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of innovation, high technology and development. They also discussed how to promote entrepreneurship and youth employment and how to safeguard the security of energy and data supplies. “In this context, the Ambassador presented the event sponsored by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria “Bridge of Innovation: Italy-Bulgaria united for the future of startups,” which will be held on May 8, 2025 at the Sofia Tech Park and will be dedicated to the new turn that Italy and Bulgaria are taking by moving toward high-tech sectors. It is hoped that high-level participation from both countries can be ensured at this meeting.Finally, the President of Confindustria Bulgaria asked for opinions on financing options for business automation and those for business-university collaboration in the two countries. The potential for business innovation and modernization as well as gas consumption metering systems were also discussed.The two sides agreed “to work closely to promote and further develop bilateral cooperation in order to create a favorable environment for both investment attraction and entrepreneurship development on both sides,” the note concluded.
