Italy-France-Spain “Condemnation of Israeli attack on Unifil”

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “As longtime UNIFIL contributing nations and partners of Lebanon and Israel, We, the leaders of France, Italy and Spain, condemn the recent UNIFIL attack by the IDF. We express our outrage after several peacekeepers were injured in Naqoura. These attacks constitute a gross violation of Israel’s obligations under UN Resolution 1701 and international humanitarian law. These attacks are unjustifiable and must end immediately.” This is what the joint statement by the leaders of France, Italy and Spain on the recent attack on UNIFIL in Lebanon reads.
“We recall that all peacekeepers must be protected and we reiterate our praise for the continued and indispensable efforts of UNIFIL troops and personnel in this very challenging context,” the joint statement continues. “We count on Israel’s commitment to the security of the UN and bilateral peacekeeping missions in Lebanon, as well as international organizations active in the region.
We also call for an immediate ceasefire and the full implementation of UN Resolution 1701 by all parties, which is the only way to allow the Israeli and Lebanese people to return safely to their homes. We reiterate our commitment to the full implementation of Resolution 1701 and to the UNIFIL mission, whose contribution to the cessation of hostilities will be crucial.”
