Italy is the first destination in the world chosen for wedding trips

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Italy loves couples. Our country is the first destination in the world chosen for luxury wedding trips (according to the latest Honeymoon Destination 1), in front of Greece and Bali.

Foreign couples who decide to celebrate the wedding in Italy also grow. There are over 15,100 weddings of foreign couples who chose Italy to marry, recording an increase of +11.4%. According to the latest ENIT surveys, we talk about almost a million people involved who have generated 4 million overnight stays and an increase in the number of guests, which will push the average expense of the event to +4.2% compared to 2023, attesting around 61,500 euros, where the catering item 39; is the highest (36%).

The induced flows the billion euros (compared to the 500 million euros of 2018) distributed on a wide and qualified chain (the request of wedding planners, for example, salt to 46.3%). The interest of foreign couples rewards Centre Italy (31.1%), but increases interest in South and Islands (29.3%), in particular Sicily is one of the most popular regions.

Destination Wedding is a sector with greater delocalization and enhancement of hospitality outside the great centers. Those who come to marry in Italy want to become Italian and want to live an authentic experience in every aspect, from culture to food and settings. There is also a strong interest among Italians: 8,400 couples have been married outside their region of residence.

Marriages that have become big events and, this year’s trend, also grow long-range markets: from Canada to Japan, from Argentina to India, from the United Arab Emirates to South-East Asia, thanks to the attraction of Made in Italy and local products.

More and more foreign tourists choose Italy to celebrate a unique moment, generating a positive economic impact for the whole sector,” says Ivana Jelinic, AD Enit S.p.A.
