Italy-Oman, Meloni and Sultan Haitham bin Tarik ready to strengthen cooperation

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni made an official visit to the Oman sultanate. During the visit, Prime Minister and Sultan Haitham bin Tarik held official talks to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand the areas of cooperation in order to foster mutual interests, reaffirming their commitment to further develop the strategic partnership between the two Nations. The two parties affirmed their desire to strengthen cooperation in the fields of commerce, investment and industry, to encourage partnerships between the public and private sectors, and to activate the role of the Joint Committees to enhance bilateral trade. They also agreed to draw up an Action Plan (2026-2030) as a framework to follow the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and the agreements signed and to promote bilateral cooperation in many sectors.

The two parties praised existing cooperation in the fields of culture, heritage, university and scientific research, and also stressed the importance of further developing trade between the two States in these areas. The two parties exchanged opinions on issues of a common regional and international interest, and reaffirmed their commitment to support efforts to achieve security and stability and to resolve conflicts with peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law. Meloni praised the role of the Oman sultanate in supporting regional dialogue and peace, while Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed his appreciation for the role of Italy in promoting dialogue, peaceful solutions, and constructive commitment.
