ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Three aircraft of the Air Force, engaged in a new joint humanitarian operation for the civilian population of the Gaza Strip, took off in the late afternoon. On board there are 26 patients who need urgent medical care, accompanied by their relatives, for a total of 117 people. The Ministry of Defense announces it, underlining that the aircraft are directed towards the airports of Ciampino, Pisa and Milan Linate, where the arrival is scheduled late in the evening. Patients will be taken immediately by the National Health Service facilities to receive the necessary specialist care.
The operation was made possible thanks to the coordination of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the synergy between the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health and the Department of Civil Protection, with the contribution of the Italian Red Cross and the health structures involved. A team effort confirming Italy’s ability to act in a unitary and effective way in humanitarian emergencies.
“This operation is the result of a choral commitment and a constant collaboration between all the members of the state. Italy demonstrates that it can translate the values of solidarity and responsibility into concrete interventions in support of the civilian population. The Armed Forces, together with the staff of the other ministries and bodies involved, operate with professionalism and spirit of service to guarantee real help to those suffering. This is how our country contributes, with discretion and effectiveness, to humanitarian initiatives,” said the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto.
With this operation, the total number of Palestinian civilians transferred and assisted in our country exceeds 900 units. The transfer of patients is part of Italy’s largest humanitarian commitment to the civilian population of Gaza, which includes the sending of aid by sea and air, health support and participation in the EUBAM Rafah European mission, recently returned to operation at the homonymous pass.
