MILAN (ITALPRESS) – On the occasion of the CPHI 2024 Fair – a major world event dedicated to the pharmaceutical industry, covering the entire supply chain from finished ingredients and dosages to machinery, biotechnology and packaging – in the hall of the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan, Romania’s National Company of Strategic Interest, Unifarm, represented by its General Director, Adrian Marius Dobre, and Confindustria Romania, Patronage representing major Italian investments in the country, represented by President Giulio Bertola, signed a Cooperation Protocol for the development of economic relations between Italy and Romania in the pharmaceutical sector, through a series of joint actions. In addition to the signing of the Protocol, in the presence of the Official Representatives of the Consulate General of Romania in Milan and an important and selected Representation of Italian companies in the pharmaceutical sector, General Director Adrian Marius Dobre presented the strategic role played by Unifarm National Company in the Romanian health system and its strategic role in ensuring that the Romanian market has access to the latest and most effective drugs and therapies for Romanian patients.Unifarm is a national pharmaceutical company based in Bucharest, working in cooperation with the Romanian government through the Ministry of Health. Founded in 1935, it is one of the leading distributors of pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical products in the country, being a key player in the Romanian healthcare system, with a critical role in ensuring the continuous availability of drugs and medical devices for the population. The Protocol also sanctions the role and mission of Confindustria Romania, as the largest representation of Confindustria Italy in Eastern Europe, in offering assistance in Italy not only to the Unifarm National Company, but also to Italian companies in the Pharma/Medical Devices sector for the development of their business in Romania. Confindustria Romania therefore stands out as a strategic partner in this process, playing a crucial role in facilitating dialogue between Italian pharmaceutical companies and Romanian institutions. Thanks to its experience and deep-rooted institutional network, Confindustria Romania is able to offer Italian companies not only privileged market access, but also comprehensive support for the internationalization of their activities. The choice of Confindustria Romania as the promoter of this collaboration, as opposed to other entities, is based on its well-established ability to create synergies and opportunities for Italian companies, while supporting the needs of the Romanian healthcare system. “The Romanian pharmaceutical industry is developing rapidly,” Dobre said. As General Director of the Romanian State Pharmaceutical Company, I am eager to begin collaboration with our Italian partners to explore possibilities to further expand our industry and our activities in the healthcare sector. The partnership signed today represents an opportunity to discuss topics of common interest. “The two structures, through their respective work teams, have set ambitious goals, among them: to promote economic cooperation between countries based on shared values and close ties, to organize business meetings, to promote participation in jointly organized exhibitions and fairs, to organize economic missions, seminars, symposia, conferences and other activities in order to improve the knowledge of the economics of the pharmaceutical sector in the two countries, to promote business development and the search for partners for mutually beneficial trade exchanges. This agreement brings significant benefits to both nations and economies.Italy, on the one hand, sees its companies strengthen its presence in a strategic foreign market, promoting innovation and the quality of its pharmaceutical products. On the other hand, Romania gets an easier access to high quality drugs, contributing to raising the standards of care and improving the welfare of the population. “I am particularly proud that a National Company of Strategic Interest, as authoritative as Unifarm, has chosen Confindustria Romania in this path of development of trade relations in the pharmaceutical sector between our two countries, relations that are moreover strategic for the Romanian Health System – said Bertola, President of Confindustria Romania. I think it is necessary to adopt, from now on, concrete and innovative measures for the development of all forms of foreign economic activity in such a sensitive sector that needs a reliable relational/industrial chain, in order to ensure a stable supply of high quality drugs.”
