Italy working to rebuild Ukraine, Zappia “We will do our best”

WASHINGTON (UNITED STATES) (ITALPRESS) – The Italian Embassy in Washington hosted a conference in cooperation with the Ukrainian Embassy to highlight the major challenge of strengthening international assistance in the war against Russia. The focus of the meeting was on preserving Ukraine’s cultural heritage. Italian Ambassador Mariangela Zappia opened the event, which paved the way for a further conference on Ukraine’s reconstruction to be held in Rome in July 2025. “Supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression is at the top of Italy’s agenda bilaterally as the G7 presidency, as reiterated several times by President Giorgia Meloni,” Zappia said. “Italy has done its utmost and will continue to do so. Also present at the event was Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova, who spoke of the importance of receiving support from Italy and the United States: “We work together and we really appreciate not only the help from the United States, but also from Italy and the support of the prime ministers. Today we brought together so many partners to discuss the reconstruction of Ukraine, and the upcoming conference in Rome will be important because Italy is a leader in the G7 and is at the forefront of the reconstruction issue,” Markarova concluded.
After the conference, the Washington-Kiev exhibition by Italian photographer Massimo Listri was opened with 16 large-format artistic photographs of Kiev’s most prestigious buildings portrayed during the Russian aggression against the country. From the Opera House to the Parliament. A shout of culture against the violence of tyrants.
