ROME (ITALPRESS) – “We want to make ourselves known to citizens in a different way from how we have been represented. It is not a strike against anyone but in defense of a set of principles of the Constitution in which we firmly believe and we believe that they are the best solution not for magistrates, but for citizens.” Cesare Parodi, president of the National Association of Magistrates, told 24 Mattino on Radio24 about the strike proclaimed for today. With the separation of careers “we fear that the judge is conditionable,” Parodi stressed. “That there may be in perspective a progressive genetic mutation of the prosecutor and therefore that the prosecutor may be conditionable and conditioned by the executive and the strong powers is unfortunately a risk that many people feel. A real risk that would probably not occur immediately after the reform but would be irreversibly initiated in our opinion, and that would be the most negative aspect for ordinary citizens. “This is anything but a defense of caste. We are not defending any privilege. There is a narrative that has formed about the judiciary that is conditioning the debate. We are not defending any privilege, any special advantageous situation. We are not heroes, we are citizens who work seriously and believe in justice, we want to be recognized as we are, not as we are described,” Parodi stressed.
