TURIN (ITALPRESS) – After three consecutive draws, Juventus returned to victory in the league. At the Stadium, on the 21st day of the championship, the Thiago Motta-coached team defeated AC Milan 2-0 at home: the Bianconeri had not won at home against the Diavolo since November 2019. First defeat for Sergio Conceicao on the Rossoneri bench after three wins and a draw between the league and the Italian Super Cup. Contrary to what had happened in the soporific first leg, emotions were not lacking in this second league head-to-head of the season. A first half with constant frontal reversals provided spectacle and scoring chances. In the first 45 minutes the home team was more proactive with chances over the crossbar by Mbangula and Koopmeiners in addition to an unsuccessful right-footed shot by Yildiz in 35′ that found Maignan’s response. The best chances of the first half, however, belonged to the Rossoneri: on 18′ a conclusion by Reijnders at the penalty spot found Locatelli’s barrage, while on 26′ Di Gregorio made a great clearance on Leao and Hernandez tried twice again finding opposition from the Juventus defensive wall. At 8′ of the second half it was Maignan who was the absolute protagonist able to save the Milan goal twice in a few seconds, first on a diagonal right-footed shot by Weah and then on a sure-footed conclusion by Koopmeiners. Milan’s French goalkeeper, on the other hand, was unable to do anything at 14′ on Mbangula’s right-footer dirtied by Emerson Royal’s decisive touch that put him out of action, giving the hosts the lead. A deadly one-two by Juventus, which five minutes later doubled it with Weah, served by Thuram, who was good at targeting Tomori and with a left-footed diagonal to beat the host extreme defender. A goal that came 25 years after the double scored by Papa George against Juventus in Turin. Conceicao once again tried to turn it around with the changes but unlike what happened in Saudi Arabia, the Bianconeri did not let themselves be caught again and went back to breathing Champions League air.
