EINDHOVEN (HOLLAND) (ITALPRESS) – Juventus’ Champions League come to an end as they were defeated 3-1 after extra time by Psv, thus rendering in vain the 2-1 by which they had prevailed in the first leg of the playoffs played at Allianz Stadium. Perisic, Saibari and Flamingo were the scorers for the Dutch, interspersed by the momentary 1-1 goal scored by Weah. Psv’s heated start to the match, abetted by the atmosphere created by the Dutch fans in front of a Juventus team that defended with density against the opponent’s attacks. The enthusiasm of Bosz’s team, however, seemed to fade as the minutes passed, leaving the field to the Bianconeri, who at the half-hour mark made an appearance forward with Cambiaso – who took over at 12′ due to Veiga’s injury – who from inside the area turned and kicked, Benitez responded. Juventus’ superiority rises and in 34′ they will have another chance for 1-0, on Koopmeiners’ filter for Kolo Muani who, however, fails to touch the ball to get past the Psv goalkeeper. The first half thus ended without any other sharpness, in contrast to the start of the second half, in which Psv unlocked the partial, at 53′, on Lang’s change of field to serve Perisic, lethal in beating Di Gregorio. Juventus was coldly and almost unexpectedly hit by the red-and-white transition, but its reaction would come in 63′, thanks to Weah’s goal born from a spot kick situation following which the American found himself shooting from outside the box. After the initial offside flagged by the linesman, Vincic’s Var-check then validated the goal, with Juventus again ahead in the overall partial. 1-1 that would last only until 74′, however, when Psv took the lead again thanks to Saibari’s tap-in, favored by De Jong’s presence on the cross that came from a ball lost by Cambiaso. The score was again tied between the first leg and the return leg, with the 3-3 aggregate thus sending the two teams into extra time. Fatigue and a lot of stoppages play the main role, with the Juventus defense then being found unprepared on the action that leads Psv to 3-1: a long throw picked up Bakayoko, who inside the area puts in a ball that is poorly rejected by Gatti and pushed into the net by Flamingo. Juventus surged forward again, and with a flick by Vlahovic went close to scoring, with only the post stopping the Serbian on the deflection following Mbangula’s assist. Nothing to do for the Bianconeri, who not even in the final forcing of the second overtime managed to break down the Dutch wall, thus surrendering elimination. – photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
