FLORENCE (ITALPRESS) – Fiorentina beats Atalanta and stays hooked to the bandwagon of the Europe that counts by winning a success that goes beyond the final three points. Moise Kean, who closes his personal week with a very heavy goal after his double in Dortmund with the national team, once again decided. The Orobici, on the other hand, after this knockout abandon all Scudetto dreams and inevitably downsize their ambitions, with the Nerazzurri attack experiencing a bad day in every respect.
The hosts have to give up Gosens, who suffers a sprain in the finishing session a few hours before the whistle blows, with Palladino launching Parisi from 1′, while the guests recover somewhat surprisingly Retegui, a starter along with Lookaman in attack. It is Fiorentina who plays the game, with an initial dominance in midfield, but as the minutes pass it is the Atalanta outfielders, Bellanova and Zappacosta, who centralize the game between their own feet. Kean suffers from Hien’s marking that almost cancels him out. But in the final minutes of the half, at the moment when Atalanta gave the impression that it could pass (Retegui’s venomous left), there was the goal of the purple center forward, his 21st goal total of the season, taking advantage of a glaring error by Hien in disengagement.
Although struggling in the midfield line, and with Parisi in particular always being overtaken by Bellanova, the lily team benefited from the good moment of Fagioli, who often duets with Gudmundsson, the latter a true link between midfield and attack. After the very Icelandic striker in the opening half failed to lob a possible 2-0, Gasperini changed his Atalanta: out came Lookman and Retegui, in came Samardzic and Maldini, with De Ketelaere moving forward. The Belgian, however, does not affect and so at 70′ he is replaced by Brescianini, same fate for Gudmundsson who gives way to Beltran. Fiorentina has a resounding double chance to close the game shortly after with Ranieri excellently served by Mandragora, but the purple captain gets hypnotized by Carnesecchi. But Dea is on a bad day, and so Palladino’s men arrive suffering less than they should at the final whistle in which they can celebrate. For Atalanta a bad setback that hurts: calendar in hand, more than the Scudetto the Nerazzurri will have to look over their shoulders.
