Kia Stonic is renewed, new design and more technology

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Since its launch in 2017, Kia Stonic has been among the most successful brand models. Today the New Stonic continues its history by perfecting design, interior, connectivity and motorizations. “It’s a facelift or product enhancement, but it’s a full model change: a completely renewed machine from the design point of view, both in the exterior and in the interior and also from a technological point of view: with a new infotainment system, double 12.3 inch screen and many other novelties,” says Michele Palomba, Product Planning Manager Kia Italia. The car is 4.165 mm long, 1.760 mm wide and 1.520 mm high. The minimum load capacity is 352 liters, but with the lowering of seats can be increased up to 1.155.“We have a single motorization: a 1000 turbo petrol, declined in several variants: the base version, from 100 horses, the mild hybrid that brings the horses from 100 to 115. They’re both manual. The mild hybrid is also available a seven-speed DCT change, so with double friction, for a great driving comfort.” While maintaining the size substantially unchanged, the length was increased by 25 mm thanks to the rear and front bumpers redesigned. Several changes were made at the front: the Star Map Signature lighting of Kia, the front and lower grids more prominent and structured and an updated front fender. On the other hand, in the back part the layout of the hanger was modified and rear lights were added with distinctive design, an updated speaker and a cleaner rear bumper. Also the design of the circles, available in the sizes of 16 and 17 inches in alloy, has been redesigned. A dedicated version has been impressed by the 17-inch alloy wheels for the GT-Line setup. Inside, in addition to the already mentioned 12.3 inch multimodal touch display, the design of the steering wheel has been revised to two and three races, the knob of the gearbox and the central console. Additional internal improvements include USB-C fast charging ports, wireless charging for smartphones and environmental lighting. Through the KIA Connect system, the New Stonic allows diagnostic monitoring of the vehicle in real time. Function also available remotely through the KIA app, flanked in turn by the digital key to unlock and start the vehicle using a compatible smartphone or smartwatch. As illustrated by Palomba, on the security front “the car is enriched with elements like the Smart Cruise Control 2.0, with the possibility to make the Stop and go in case of highway code or city; or the Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist, the monitoring of blind corners we introduce from the GTline”. Additional ADAS devices are Safe Exit Warning, to warn of the presence of road users approaching from behind before the door opens; Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5, to mitigate or prevent collisions, detecting potential dangers on the road ahead of the vehicle. In addition, the navigation-based intelligent cruise speed control system uses GPS data to automatically adjust the speed before entering a curve. Finally, the driving assistance system on the highway helps the driver to maintain a safety distance from the vehicle before and to adjust the side position, while the service system to the maintenance of the lane helps to stay at the center of the lane.
