SHANGHAI (CHINA) (ITALPRESS) – “I thank all of you who do me the honor of being present at this meeting of ours. I feel embarrassed because I realize that we who are the representatives of Italy actually do much less than what you do far from the homeland with your daily work in the field of culture, universities, professions, Made in Italy.” Senate President Ignazio La Russa said this in Shanghai, meeting with a representation of the Italian community in China.
“No one can be a better Ambassador than you, and it is precisely thanks to your commitment that then people, even in these parts, become convinced of the quality of Italian specificities. In these days of institutional meetings here in China, I have seen great consideration for Italy and Italians,” La Russa continued. “Among our specificities is also the ability to be able to adapt to the situation in which we are working. I know that there was a very difficult period with COVID: many Italians had to leave the field, others stayed. However, I know that the ability to play this role of ambassadors has never failed.”
“Our meetings here in Beijing also testified that there is an awareness that China and Italy have something in common that cannot be weighed in numbers but in quality. And Italy really has a lot of quality. There is a kind of spiritual twinning between our nation and China, despite the distant positions in recent decades. But on their part there is also a recognition of what we Italians know how to do,” La Russa concluded. “I thank Ambassador Massimo Ambrosetti and the Consul in Shanghai, Tiziana D’Angelo, for their valuable work. To all of you, I wish great success in your specific activities and remind you that no matter how full of problems, no matter how imperfect, no matter how much children of a thousand doubts and conflicts, we must never forget that the most beautiful and most fortunate thing is to be born Italian.”
