Lancia closes 2024 positive “Authentic renaissance”

TURIN (ITALPRESS) – A good year has just ended for the Lancia brand, “which is undergoing a genuine Renaissance in terms of new models, renovated exclusive showrooms and an internalization process capable of bringing the brand back into the premium market. In 2024, Lancia registered more than 32,000 registrations, achieving a market share of 2.1 percent. In the competitive B segment, the Ypsilon achieved a segment share of 9.6 percent, consolidating its leading role among compact cars.” This is according to a note from the Stellantis Group brand.
“Starting in Italy at the end of 2023 with the presentation of the new logo, the introduction of the new Corporate Identity and above all the launch of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE Concept, this ambitious roadmap continued in 2024 at a fast pace, in line with Stellantis’ “Dare Forward 2030″ strategic plan, and includes an efficient range of three new models, one every 2 years, starting with the New Ypsilon. Presented last February in Milan, the New Ypsilon immediately came to the fore, garnering great success among the public and the international press, winning several prestigious awards,” Lancia stresses. “The first car of Lancia’s new era is positioned at the top of the segment in terms of versatility, efficiency and environmental friendliness. Born, developed and designed in Turin, the new model satisfies a modern and sustainability-conscious clientele, which has also shown all its interest and appreciation in the numerous initiatives that have seen it as a protagonist around Italy and Europe throughout 2024, including the new roadshow and the exciting ‘Experience Days’ in the main Italian cities, which last December were well attended at each stage.”
“Available in 100% electric and next-generation hybrid powertrains, the New Lancia Ypsilon is offered in three different layouts and marks a milestone in the legendary history of the Italian brand, which turned 118 years old by celebrating the perfect combination of timeless elegance, technological innovation and contemporary sensitivity to the environment. In Italy, at the end of 2024, the launch phase of the New Ypsilon was completed in all the renovated 160 Casa Lancia, the exclusive showrooms characterized by the brand’s new corporate identity, which offer the opportunity both to get to know the complete range – declined in the Ypsilon, LX and Cassina trim, all available in electric or hybrid configurations – and to take exciting test drives to assay its unparalleled handling and efficiency qualities,” the note continues. Also last year, the brand’s internationalization process kicked off, with a network of 70 new dealers by 2025 in as many major European cities. The first markets involved were France, Spain, Belgium-Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, and from this year it will be Germany’s turn to welcome the first Lancia showrooms and a dedicated service network. And 2025 will also mark Lancia’s return to motorsports, with the aim of reaffirming its presence in contemporary motorsport competitions. Starring the new Ypsilon Rally4 HF, which pays homage to the glorious rally history of the most successful brand ever. In addition, the year 2025 will be dedicated to the relaunch of the glorious HF badge, which will first stand out on the Ypsilon and then arrive on the Gamma under the name ‘HF.'”
“It should also be remembered that last July production of the Ypsilon, a model that represented 14 years of success, ended. Before saying goodbye to the market and passing the baton to the New Ypsilon, the fashion city car closed the first half of the year with almost 25,000 registrations, confirming its place on the podium of the best-selling cars in its segment. All the Ypsilons produced have been sold, marking the end of an important era for the brand and, at the same time, opening a new phase for Lancia with the debut of the New Ypsilon,” Lancia explains. “This brave but necessary decision is part of Lancia’s mission to strengthen Stellantis premium offer in Europe, in synergy with the Alfa Romeo and DS Automobiles brands. Not least, during 2024, Lancia won prestigious international awards, confirming its excellence in design and innovation. In September, the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE triumphed at the “Best of Show” of the Chantilly Concours d’E’lègance in France, an event that celebrates design excellence and the marriage of the automotive and fashion worlds. In the same month, the New Lancia Ypsilon won the “Icon Design Trophy” at the Prisa Motor Awards in Spain, establishing itself as a leader in the premium B-segment thanks to its innovative design, advanced driver assistance systems and cutting-edge technology, during a ceremony held at the Hipòdromo de la Zarzuela in Madrid. Then in October, the New Ypsilon received the “Prix du Style” at the Grand Prix Auto Moto in France for its refined design that combines Italian craftsmanship and modern technology. Finally, last December, Lancia was honored with the “A Star is Back” award at the AutoBest Awards in Europe, celebrating the brand’s Renaissance, with a focus on electrification, sustainability and positioning in the premium segment.”
“In short, 2024 laid a solid foundation for the brand’s future, marking a turning point in its evolution. Among the promises made, and all of which have been kept, is the confirmation that the new Lancia Gamma will be produced, starting in 2026, at the Melfi plant, one of the Group’s plants of excellence, which was chosen for its high production quality and its strategic role within the transition to electric mobility. This decision strengthens Lancia’s bond with its Italian roots and a also underscores the importance of investing in the territory to create innovative and cutting-edge products, acting as a driving force for the entire local and national economic fabric,” Lancia concludes.
