Lancia presents Ypsilon Turbo 100, the sportsman with manual gearbox

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – A guide with manual change continues to be particularly appreciated in a market like the Italian one. In this scenario the new Lancia Ypsilon Turbo 100, presented today in Milan a few days from the beginning of the Design Week. “This new motorization completes the range of the Lancia Ypsilon, allowing us to talk to a much wider audience than what we could contact with hybrid and electric motors. All market analyses show that still today in Italy, but also in other European countries such as Spain and France, there are many people who choose to drive a petrol engine car with manual gearbox”, explained the CEO of Lancia Roberta Zerbi, underlining that only “in Italy we are talking about 68% of segment B. In practice 68% of people who buy a compact city car chooses gasoline and within this group 88% prefers the manual”. “What customers asked us loudly, is to insert a motorization that was more in line with that of the previous generation of Ypsilon”, said Gianni Petullà, Head of Lancia Product. “So a non-electrical gasoline engine, six-speed manual gearbox, 101 horses, 205 Nm torque: a very snappy car thanks to the variable geometry turbocharger for use in a city environment that is the ideal playground of Lancia Ypsilon”, he added. In detail the car passes from 0-100 km/h in 10.2 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 194 km/h. In terms of efficiency, the new high-pressure direct injection system (350 bar), the introduction of a reduced friction valve mixing system, the redesigned piston head and the high-compression Miller cycle ensure cleaner combustion and higher performance than the same consumption. The motorizations now available on the New Ypsilon range are three: Ypsilon Hybrida, mild hybrid motorization for those seeking efficiency and moderation in consumption; Electric Ypsilon, zero emissions for more sustainable urban mobility; Ypsilon Turbo 100, petrol power with six-speed manual transmission, for those who want simplicity, control and driveability. The new version is available on all three sets of the range – Ypsilon, Ypsilon LX and HF Line – to respond to different tastes and lifestyles, maintaining in each the same product quality. “When we decided to introduce the Turbo 100 we were convinced that the right choice was to give a truly wide range of choice to our customers – Petullà added – this is because it has a fundamental role in terms of accessibility and therefore allow us to talk to the entry part of the market B. On the other hand, for example, on a HF Line setup, it allows us to talk to those customers who are looking for a more direct guide, even a little more sporty, where an automatic change could simply be perceived as not necessary or far from that pleasure of driving that thinks that sportyness passes for a manual guide”. As Zerbi recalled, “the new motorization will be introduced in all markets from May. We certainly expect to grow in European markets: we are present in Spain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, where we are gradually growing in terms of the capillarity of dealers. We are already seeing excellent results especially in France where hybrid and electric motorizations have a much greater weight, but also there this motorization will go to complete the range and therefore will allow us to approach a wider audience also for its accessibility from an economic point of view”. The new motorization is located on all installations with a list price of 3,000 euros lower than the corresponding hybrid versions: the New Ypsilon Turbo 100 starts from 22,200 euros whoavi in hand, while the LX Turbo 100 and HF Line Turbo 100 versions are proposed to 25,200 euros, including roadside of 1.000 euros. Moreover, accessing the financial solutions dedicated to the new motorization, the price starts from 15,950 euros with monthly fees from 99 euros.(ITALPRESS). -Photo: xh7/Italpress-
