MONZA (ITALPRESS) – Lazio overcame Monza 1-0 at the U-Power Stadium in the match valid for the 12th day of Serie A and scored its fourth consecutive victory in the league, which projects it higher and higher in the standings: a goal by Mattia Zaccagni was decisive. Ugly knockout for the Brianza team, increasingly in crisis of results (third defeat in a row) and points.
Good start of the match by the red and white team, which after just two minutes comes to the conclusion with Dany Mota who, however, does not hit the goal. At 10′ it is Daniel Maldini who kicks with first intention, but the ball ends high over the crossbar. After the first attempts of the Brianzoli, the biancoceleste team starts to raise the pace and carves out two chances within a few minutes first with Dia and then with Nuno Tavares, on which Turati’s interventions are decisive. On 19′ Monza came forward again with Kyriakopoulos going for a cross to Bianco, who hit a header missing the goal mirror. A few minutes later Zaccagni hits a glaring post, but the time is ripe for Lazio’s lead, which comes at 36′: Pedro serves Zaccagni himself, who places the ball at the second post with his right and makes it 1-0. A few minutes before halftime Mota has a chance for the equalizer, but he misses the goal and so we go to rest on the 1-0 scoreline. In the represala Lazio tried to pick up where it left off, making itself dangerous first with a Rovella conclusion deflected by Turati and then with a couple of forays by Nuno Tavares, who was somehow contained by the opponent’s defense. After risking capitulation, Monza reacted and began to push hard in search of the equalizer: Maldini served Dany Mota who went for the shot, but Nuno Tavares deflected it into the corner. At 72′ Pedro Pereira serves an excellent ball for Maldini who, from a good position, wastes everything. Marco Baroni’s team tried to close the game by taking advantage of some counterattacks, especially with a shot from close range by Castellanos, on which Turati performed a miracle five minutes from 90′. The Biancocelesti will be back on the pitch after the break at the Olimpico to face Bologna; while the Biancorossi will be away against Torino.
