Lazio wins in Cagliari and takes back fourth place

CAGLIARI (ITALPRESS) – Ready redemption for Lazio, which after the defeat against Fiorentina immediately found the three points in Serie A by winning on the field of Cagliari: at the Unipol Domus a sparkling match was staged, ending 2-1 for the biancocelesti as a result of goals by Zaccagni and Castellanos. In between is Piccoli’s tentative equalizer. Davide Nicola chooses Viola as support for his striker, with Gaetano on the bench. Few surprises for Marco Baroni, replaced on the bench by deputy Fabrizio Del Rosso due to disqualification: Zaccagni starts from 1′, in midfield the Rovella-Guendouzi pair returns. Decisive start for Lazio, which pushes from the first minutes, but Cagliari immediately shows it can hurt on the counter-attack: the first shot on goal, in fact, is of the Sardinians’ own with Viola, who forces Provedel into a non-trivial save at 6′. The hosts insist with Piccoli, who misses the impact with the ball, and Mina, while Castellanos tries to shake his own with a shot from distance that ends high. At 41′ Lazio – after a goal annulled to Dia due to a hand foul – unlocked the result: Hysaj put a slightly backward ball in the middle to reward the insertion of Zaccagni, who slid in the goal. Cagliari came back in the second half with an excellent attitude, touching the net at 50′ with Adopo, who controlled in the box but sent high from the penalty spot. It was the prelude to the goal, which came six minutes later: deep corner by Viola, Piccoli swooped over Hysaj and left Provedel no chance. Lazio responded immediately with Romagnoli and, after also losing Hysaj to injury, took the lead again in 64′: Isaksen’s cross, Dia’s header banked in for Zaccagni, who did not impact as well as he could, but in the middle of the area was Castellanos who slotted in the simplest of tap-ins. In 73′ Zaccagni comes close to a one-two after Rovella’s illuminating feed, with Caprile making a prodigious intervention and keeping his side in the game. Nicola decides to up the pressure by inserting Pavoletti in place of Zappa. The Sardinians pressed but did not break through, so much so that it was the Biancocelesti who were able to manage the game in the last few minutes, except for an interesting chance for Pavoletti, who, however, shot sky high. With this result, Lazio regains fourth place, climbing to 42 points, while Cagliari remains stuck on 21 points, +1 from the relegation zone.- photo Ipa Agency -(ITALPRESS).
