MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Range Extender technology arrives in Italy for the Leapmotor family with the new B10 REEV Hybrid. An entry into the Italian market that seems to confirm the strengthening of the brand from just a year and a half in our country. As pointed out by Federico Scopelliti, Country Manager Leapmotor Italia, the brand “is growing very fast, so that it has reached its first position in the electric car market. A surprising result that was possible thanks to more than 11 thousand registrations reached in the first quarter [of this year, ndr]. A market share exceeding 30%. All very satisfying, but now the next step for Leapmotor is to become a protagonist in the hybrid market with the Range Extender technology.” Specifically, let’s talk about a 4.515 mm long car, 1.885 mm wide, 1.655 mm high, 2.735 mm and with a 330 litre luggage.Basing on the system already tested on the model C10, the B10 REEV Hybrid combines an electric propulsion system supported by a 1.5 litre gasoline generator integrated on board that recharges the battery when necessary. The model is equipped with a battery of 18.8 kWh that offers an electric range of 86 km, a 50 kW generator and a 50-litre tank, guaranteeing a combined autonomy up to 900 km.“The main novelty of the car is the REEV Hybrid motorization whose peculiarity is to be a hybrid technology categorized as a plug-in hybrid but with a different operation – explains Mariateresa Corniello, Pricing & Product Manager The wheels are driven exclusively by the electric motor: the thermal motor acts as a generator to recharge the battery and, thanks to the Range Extender system, extend the autonomy of the vehicle up to 900 km”. The system is based on three key principles: the electric motor always drives the wheels, the extender range is never mechanically connected to the wheels, its function is to generate electricity while driving. Thanks to this configuration, the B10 REEV Hybrid offers a driving experience that is always purely electrical, while allowing you to travel without depending on frequent reloads. Always returning to the Range Extender technology, Scopelliti emphasizes that “it addresses that interested and attracted customers from the electric world, but still has many doubts about autonomy. However, the critical and successful element of Leapmotor is to have a strong vertical integration that allows you to control everything from your interior, save on development and production costs and transfer this benefit to the final price.” Drivers can choose from four energy modes – EV+, EV, Fuel and Power+ – to optimize efficiency or performance according to the driving requirements, while adapting the vehicle’s behaviour to the different driving scenarios and preserving the electrical character. “EV and EV+ modes give priority to the electric motor, while Fuel and Power+ to the thermal one. EV and EV+ are recommended for everyday travel or in the city centre. When you have the need to make long trips the most indicated mode is the Fuel, while in case of greater power it recommends the Power+”, Corniello explains. In detail, Fuel and Power+ activate the onboard generator, providing additional energy when greater autonomy, increased power demand or in specific driving conditions is required. This system allows the vehicle to optimally adapt performance to the driver’s needs, combining the advantages of electric mobility with the safety and adaptability of hybrid technology. The EV+ mode maximizes battery use to prioritize fully electric driving, making it ideal for urban travel and short daily routes. The EV mode maintains the electric drive as a default settingnita, allowing the extender range to act only when necessary to support battery charging, ensuring an always smooth and silent electric driving experience. For long distance travel, the Fuel mode shifts the system priority to the gas generator, preserving the battery energy for later use. Finally, the Power+ mode offers the maximum performance of the vehicle, combining the maximum power of the electric motor with the capacity of generation of the extender range, ensuring a strong acceleration and optimal reactivity during overtaking manoeuvres or steep slopes. Inside the cabin, there is a 14.6 inch central display with 2.5K HD resolution to allow control of all functions related to connectivity, entertainment and vehicle controls. The latest OTA update released for the Leapmotor B10 (BEV and REEV Hybrid) also provides a series of significant improvements to enhance driving comfort, connectivity, user interface and security systems. Connectivity receives a remarkable boost thanks to native support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, available both via wired and wireless connection, which provides users with immediate access to their favorite apps on the 14.6-inch infotainment display. The update also introduces the One Pedal Driving function, which allows drivers to control both acceleration and much deceleration using only the accelerator pedal, thanks to an improved energy recovery logic that ensures smoother control and greater efficiency. With regard to ADAS the warning system of presence of people has been optimized, while the updates made to the adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and to the maintenance system of the lane (LCC) guarantee a more fluid deceleration near the curves, improving the overall driving fluidity. The new B10 REEV Hybrid also has a high-strength body structure with improved torque rigidity, seven airbags and 17 advanced driving assistance functions designed to support drivers in a wide range of scenarios, ensuring safety and protection on each trip. The new B10 REEV Hybrid is offered in a simplified range with two sets – Life and Design – six exterior colors and three interior settings. The new B10 REEV Hybrid can be ordered with a list price starting from 29,900 euros for the Life version and 31,400 euros for the Design version. There is also a launch offer, valid with permutation or scrap, which allows you to put at the wheel of the B10 REEV Hybrid Life at the promotional price of 24.900 euros and the B10 REEV Hybrid Design at 26.400 euros.
