Leclerc closes FP2 in Melbourne with best time

MELBOURNE (AUSTRALIA) (ITALPRESS) – The Ferrari of Charles Leclerc closes the second free practice of the Melbourne GP in the lead. The Monegasque, with a time of 1’16″439, was 124 thousandths ahead of the McLaren of Oscar Piastri and 141 thousandths ahead of the other McLaren, that of Lando Norris. Fourth place for Yuki Tsunoda (+0″345), fifth and sixth positions occupied by Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari) and Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls). World champion Max Verstappen finished seventh at more than 6 tenths. Eighth was Nico Hulkenberg (+0″722). Lance Stroll, ninth, and George Russell, 10th at 843 thousandths from Leclerc, closed the top ten. Back are Antonelli (16th, Mercedes) and Lawson (17th, Red Bull). In early morning practice, however, the fastest had been Lando Norris in the McLaren with Carlos Sainz (Williams) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) right behind him. Only fifth was the world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull) while Lewis Hamilton had not gone beyond the 12th time and the Bolognese Antonelli (Mercedes) 14th. The session was interrupted on two occasions, due to gravel on the track and the accident (without consequences for the driver) of Oliver Bearman.
