Leonardo inaugurates the new Regional Cyber Center in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR (MALESIA) (ITALPRESS) – With the opening of the new Regional Cyber Center Leonardo strengthens its position as a technological leader in global security. The inauguration, which took place in the presence of the Malaysian Minister of Communications, Yang Berhormat Datuk Fahami Fadzil, underlines the company’s commitment to ensuring global security internationally, proactively responding to an ever more complex and rapidly evolving cyber threat. The strategic choice of Malaysia reflects its leading position in the cybersecurity landscape.

The country stands out in the region for its advanced legislation on the subject and for the protection of national critical infrastructure. Taking advantage of the integration of Leonardo’s proprietary technologies in cyber security, physical security and mission-critical communications and the experience gained in strategic sectors both in Italy and abroad, the new Centre will provide a substantial contribution to global protection from new hybrid threats, to the strengthening of digital autonomy and to the support of the sustainable development of Malaysia and the entire region.

The new center of Kuala Lumpur is part of the Global CyberSec Center (GCC), Leonardo’s trusted and mission critical cybersecurity service provider headquartered in Chieti, and is added to the Regional Cyber Centers already operating in Brussels, Bristol and Riad. The global GCC network is designed to ensure the cyber mission assurance of strategic customers – including Defense and national strategic organizations – by bringing together processes, knowledge of threat and cutting-edge technologies. The federated model is able to ensure both the ability to operate globally in preventing, counteracting and responding to new threats, and the control of strategic data, in full respect of individual national sovereignty.

“This initiative is a long-term investment that reflects Leonardo’s strong commitment to building a solid industrial and technological partnership with Malaysia, while contributing to the development of a highly specialized local human capital. In a world where cyber self-sufficiency has become the new currency of stability, we allow national strategic organizations to ensure the security and continuity of their operations, exploiting our Global CyberSec platform. Through this investment in Malaysia, our goal is to support the transformation of critical infrastructure, such as the national cloud and national security operations centers, into autonomous strategic resources,” says Andrea Campora, Managing Director Cyber & Security Solutions Division of Leonardo.

“The inauguration of the new Regional Cyber Centre in Malaysia is a fundamental step in Leonardo’s long-term strategy to expand its international presence both in the country and throughout the region – reads in a note –. This initiative, combined with recent acquisitions within the Zero Trust architecture, further strengthens Leonardo’s leading role in ensuring global security and consolidates Malaysia as a crucial and strategic hub towards Southeast Asia, looking ahead to the Far East. Leonardo has had a consolidated presence in Malaysia for over forty years, with a significant contribution to the defence and aerospace sectors. Over the decades, the company has supported the country through a comprehensive portfolio of advanced solutions, including helicopters for military and commercial operations, military aircraft, integrated defence systems – including radar, naval capabilities and electronic warfare – as well as security solutions for critical infrastructure and mission critical communications.”.
