RAPALLO (GENOVA) (ITALPRESS) – “There are lights and shadows, but there are many lights”. So Valerio De Molli, managing partner and managing director of The European House-Ambrosetti, summed up the annual report presented today in Rapallo during the tenth edition of the think tank Liguria 2030, a permanent platform of comparison promoted by TEHA Group with Liguria Region. “The blue economy is a point of great importance for the region – said De Molli – and already today it is significant protagonist: a third of all the Teu enlivened in Italy pass from Liguria ports”. In particular, Liguria is first in Italy for business incidence (11%), added value (14.4%) and occupied (15.2%). It is the third region for tourist density (972.6 arrivals per square kilometer in 2025) and the first for beaches with Blue Flag (13.3 per square kilometer). The high-tech export represents 67.5% of the total, which is worth the second place at national level. Among the shadows “we are a growing population, so there is the theme of longevity that should be addressed to 360 degrees. Liguria is last in Italy on the level of the contribution of renewables per inhabitant. We are losing talent: the escape is evident in Liguria, however in line with the national average. And we have a number of graduates below what we should have.” The report identifies some strategic priorities for the future: underwater, nuclear, artificial intelligence and water resource protection.
Liguria is the second region after Lombardy by number of active enterprises that operate, integrally or by share part of their activities, in the nuclear industry, with 11 companies representing 15.7% of the national total. For this reason, Liguria “presents an industrial ecosystem to assert itself as a strategic pole of the new nuclear in Italy”. In 2025, the nuclear core turnover attributable to Liguria is estimated at approximately 222 million, equal to approximately 33% of the Italian nuclear power supply, estimated at a total of 675 million euros. “It is a huge figure – the Ligurian president Marco Bucci commented –. By investing in nuclear power, we could get into renewables much heavier.” Could there also be nuclear power plants in Liguria? “If they are made with 4.0 technology, certainly yes. We do not think of the old mold plants,” the president replied.
