CALTANISSETTA (ITALPRESS) – At Hasturkas in Albania, at the end of a complex and prolonged investigative activity developed on international cooperation channels, a 43-year-old Albanian citizen was arrested in Italy for drug trafficking.
The operation is the result of a close collaboration between the International Police Cooperation Service (SCIP), in particular the 2nd Division, the Office of the Expert for Security in Albania and the Investment Nucleus of the Provincial Command of the Carabinieri of Caltanissetta, in synergy with the Special Operational Force of the Albanian Criminal Police Department.
The 43-year-old was sought in the international field and recipient of a Red Notice (international catch notice) activated on impulse of the Procura – District Direction Antimafia of Caltanissetta, as investigated for association aimed at drug trafficking, abusive port and detention of weapons and ammunition and more, with the aggravating of having favored our own, and in particular the Mafia family Rivinzi of Gela, clan. Determining the crucial role of connection and coordination between the Investment Nucleus of the Carabinieri of Caltanissetta and the Albanian Authorities by the Office of the Expert for Security in Tirana, as well as the support provided by the General Secretariat Interpol of Lyon, which facilitated the exchange of information at an international level, allowing you to track movements and locate the latizer accurately.
The arrest is part of the wider conventional operation called “The Wall”, conducted by the Investment Nucleus of the Carabinieri of Caltanissetta, which already in September 2025 had led to the arrest of 15 people for the same associative crimes in the matter of drugs and weapons, in execution of an order of precaution in prison issued by the gip at the Court of Caltanissetta, at the request of the local Procura.
In the course of the investigation, it emerged that the Albanian citizen, resident in Milan, through telephone interlocutions with a former lawyer, already enrolled in the Forum of Gela, suspended from the exercise of the forensic profession since condemned for external competition in mafia association, agreed to purchase substantial quantities of cocaine and hashish, to enter the Sicilian market through links with suspected subjects of particular apparatuses. The extradition procedures are under way.
