The Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said this during Question Time at the Chamber.

“The freedom to manifest linked to the mobilization of solidarity with the Palestinian people is certainly legitimate. It has been in more than one occasion instrumentalized by groups that have put in place acts of pure and indiscriminate vandalism and violent assaults against the forces of order – explained Piantedosi -. I remember that from the beginning of the year to 7 October 8,674 major events took place and in 242 cases criticality was recorded for the public order, with 330 wounded among the police. In the same period, compared to this total of the events, 2.304 were pacifist on these issues and in 84 cases there were public problems with 242 wounded among police operators of which 146 only in the last 10 days”.
“In the year 2024, 2,069 people were reported, in addition to the 16 arrested in the immediate event. In 2025 the people reported in all these events are 1.460 of which 20 those arrested in immediateness – the minister added -. These are data that allow us to affirm that it must in no way pass the idea that we can uncleanly vandalize our cities, harming public and private property and endangering the safety of citizens. Moreover, it seemed evident that the disorders of recent days had little to do with the fate of the Palestinian people.”.
