His disappearance, which goes to add to that of his rescuer also torn to life in an attempt to save the woman, represents a painful wound for our entire community. Thought goes to the children of the second victim, to the family and to all the people who are facing great pain today, aggravated by the drama and sudden violence of events. In the face of such a profound tragedy, I wish to manifest the most sincere and respectful proximity of the Region to those who suffer, in the silence and the loss of a mourning that affects the entire Friuli Venezia Giulia”. This is declared by the governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga following the discovery this morning of the second lost person in the estate.

The bad weather that hit Friuli Venezia Giulia in the last hours has caused huge damage and made necessary complex rescue operations. “To the Fire Department, Regional Civil Protection and Volunteers – explains Fedriga – who are intervening without pause to secure the affected areas and to give support to the evacuated people from the disaster area, goes our greatest applause. A heartfelt thanks also goes to the civil protection teams from the Near Veneto, which already yesterday were operational on the spot. We have already allocated a million euros for the first urgent interventions and, thanks to the national mobilization signed by the Minister of Civil Protection Nello Musumeci, we can count on the support of the other Regions. Our civil protection system, in constant coordination with all the authorities involved, continues to guarantee relief, targeted evacuation and assistance to the population, also intervening for the safeguard of the productive activities hit”.

Fedriga then recalls the commitment made yesterday at the end of the Regional Emergency Committee (Corem): “I can assure that the Region will put in place, even in the next budgetary law, resources useful to give concrete answers to the citizens and enterprises of the most severely affected territories, in particular in the areas of Cormons and Romans d’Isonzo.
